May 17th 2016 Supper Club - What's on the menu? & why is it good for me?

With only 5 days to go to my very first supper club I wanted to say hello, welcome and thank you to those who have already purchased tickets. I look forward to meeting and seeing some old, new and familiar faces! After four years of studying Naturopathic Nutrition and almost 2 years practicing, it seems that there is an obvious lack of education when it comes to food and its role in our everyday physiological processes.

Foods traditionally played a big part in healing and optimal health, preparations were made from naturally grown plants and herbs serving medicinal benefits. Today we live in a very fast paced world moving further and further away from cultural traditions, relying on convenience.

People argue that we are living longer than we have ever lived before thanks to conventional medicine however, we have managed to increase the quantity of living but not the quality. Optimal health is not just an absence of disease it is an abundance of vitality. There are many key factors that play a role in our optimal wellbeing and those are diet, environment, community, connection and spirituality/beliefs.

I would like to present this supper club as not just a dinner but a chance to expand your awareness and increase your health. Substituting foods for healthier foods does not mean having to sacrifice flavour, there are many ways in which we can play around with natural foods creating incredible flavours to tantalise your tastebuds. A time to focus on the traditions, ancient medicines and wisdom that are slowly being forgotten from cultures all around the world in a homely environment where people have the opportunity to connect with one another at our most common place of coming together with joy, with laughter and with food; at the dinner table.
