Whilst I sit and observe the countless names and lives of people we voluntarily or involuntarily have shoved through our ears, into our eyes, through passing conversations, social networks, magazines, TV channels, gossip, the news, occupying space in our brains, I question what it is that we are even celebrating about that person that makes them a celebrity? Apart from having our own lives distracted by these 'stars' of today, what inspirational messages or valuable lessons are these people or the mainstream media giving to our future generations and us?

When we live our lives through other peoples lives on reality TV shows, Instagram, facebook etc we fall into a loop of uninspiring stories. These stories bring our focus onto things that don't actually bring any value or purpose into our lives. Younger generations are more interested in who wore what, to who hitched who and how she cheated on him. Headlines are full of uninteresting stories captioned in ways that makes you feel like their lives are more interesting to follow than your own. We then start to place the importance on making these pointless topics priorities in our own lives, taking our focus away from what really matters. We get lost again in the world of distractions not recognising what we are actually capable of when really we all have it in us to be majorly...Making a difference!

We're rarely exposed to the inspiring stories that help us to unlock and see our true potentials. We are humans. The most intelligent species on Earth. We have the ability to learn, to reason and solve problems. We're self-aware, and we're also conscious of the presence, thoughts and feelings of others. We make tools and practice the art of deception. We're creative. We think abstractly. We have language and use it to express complex ideas. All of these are great signs of intelligence. Let us never forget this or be told otherwise.

Education is a powerful thing. We always have the power of choice. We can choose to dumb ourselves down or we can change the way we see ourselves. When mainstream media and all other aspects of news giving feeds be it from the human or digital realm, are heavily infiltrating the majority of our brain capacity with negative or dulling or pointless nonsense, it may seem hard to go one way especially when everyone else is going another. However, We must be the change we want to see in the world and each and everyone of us has the capability of inspiring the other, to make a difference!

"Never forget that only dead fish swim with the stream." - Malcolm Muggeridge (British Journalist).

I would like to give more time to the people who are helping to make those changes, the people who share inspiring stories. These people don't get enough recognition. Most of them are people we have probably never heard of. Most of them are people we should be hearing more of. They are the real life celebrities who deserve to have their lives celebrated and honoured too.

Introducing: Kailash Satyarthi.

It is largely because of Satyarthi's work and activism that the International Labour Organization adopted Convention No. 182 on the worst forms of child labour, which is now a principal guideline for governments around the world.
