Oats are a great source of slow releasing energy to get you started in the morning. Warming and soothing for the soul oats high fibre content is what helps to remove cholesterol from the digestive system that would otherwise end up in the bloodstream, this fibre also helps promote healthy bowel movements and helps to stabilise blood sugar levels decreasing the risk of type 2 diabetes. Oats are loaded with vitamins and minerals like magnesium that are very calming and can help calm stress & nerves. They are also rich in antioxidants, protecting cells from free radicals. Used topically oats can help calm and ease skin conditions such as eczema, rashes & acne.

Blueberries are packed with antioxidants, called anthocyanins, that may help keep memory sharp as you age, and raspberries contain ellagic acid, a compound with anti-cancer properties. All berries are a great source of antioxidants and fibre, great for a healthy digestive system. The antioxidants in berries can help your body fight oxidative stress caused by free radicals that can lead to illness. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants can help improve your health, protect your skin and hair, and prevent certain diseases.

Flaxseed is a good source of dietary fibre and omega-3 fatty acids. The fibre in flaxseed is found primarily in the seed coat. Flaxseeds help you feel fuller for longer. Omega-3s are a great anti inflammatory and are great for hormone balancing.

Ingredients
Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 2
​

2 cups of gluten free oats
-
6 cups of spring water
-
a dash of Almond milk - or your milk of choice
-
date syrup to taste
-
a sprinkling of milled flax seeds

Directions​​

Place the oats in a pot and toast on medium heat for about a minute, before it starts browning.

Add in the water and higher heat until the water comes to a rolling boil.

Once boiling turn the heat down to low and allow to slow cook, stirring occasionally, until the oats have absorbed all the water.

Transfer the oats into a bowl, top with berries, almond milk, flax seeds and date syrup.
